Wallace & Hinz Custom Bars,
a high end manufacture of bar fixtures. Our first project was a bar in Victoria BC, I will try to get some picture in the future. Please visit their web site.
This project is for a residence in Miami Florida. The glass was to be a 1/4 sphere that would sit within the top of the back bar. The motif carved in the wood is grape leaves and grapes. I worked up a design that I felt worked with the bar and was more organic than flashy.
Here is a picture of an earlier bar that Wallace & Hinz made for an Inn in California. I drop my design into these pictures to see how it fit.
Ideas and drawings were E-mailed back and forth to Wallace & Hinz and the client in Miami. Somewhere along the way I decided that my design would only work if I slumped the glass. The pieces were to large to form to the curve of the dome.
Slumping is heating the glass up in a kiln until it slumps or sags into the shape of a mold.

We also etched the two beveled mirrors that sit right and left of the dome. Here is the design that matched the pattern on the dome.
